Redact & Pixelate

Drag over what you want hidden. IDs and documents never leave your device.

Destroyed, not covered

The classic redaction failure is a black rectangle layered over text — remove the layer and the text is still there. This tool modifies the pixels themselves and exports a flat image, so the output simply does not contain the hidden information.

※ This tool is intended for protecting your own sensitive information when sharing documents, not for altering records. Follow the receiving party's redaction instructions.

Frequently asked questions

Can the hidden areas be recovered?

No. This tool rewrites the actual pixels in the selected areas and saves a new image, so there is no layer to peel back. That's different from drawing a black box in a PDF editor, where the text underneath often survives. For digits and text, use a strong pixelation setting or the black-out mode.

What should I redact before sharing documents?

Follow the recipient's instructions first. Commonly redacted items include Social Security numbers, full account and routing numbers, and driver's license numbers. Don't over-redact — hiding your name or date of birth on an identity document usually gets a submission rejected.

Are my documents uploaded?

No. Because this tool is built for sensitive material — IDs, statements, contracts — everything runs inside your browser. The output also carries no location or device metadata.
